Mrs. Brown-Mayfield specializes in integrative medicine. She studied at Howard University in Washington DC, where she earned her Physician Assistant credentials. Additional training was acquired in Cardiology and Internal Medicine while working alongside her mentor, Dr. Raymond Nelson, a well-known and respected cardiologist in Washington DC. Mrs. Brown-Mayfield has over 10 years of combined experience in the fields of Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and surgery.
Mrs. Brown-Mayfield is passionate about chronic disease prevention, and promotes healthy living. Known for her passion for educating patients, she can be quoted as saying she wants to save the world. Mrs. Brown-Mayfield continues to move towards this goal as she pursues her PhD in Public Health-Community Health Education.
A testimony to her passion, Mrs. Brown-Mayfield is always looking to create ways to educate the community. As a result, she developed the Live Well – New Orleans lifestyle program. The purpose of Live Well is to provide the people of New Orleans with the information and assistance needed to treat and prevent chronic diseases, as well as encourage weight loss.
Mrs. Brown-Mayfield is proactive in her approach to the world of health. She practices integrative medicine, where she strives to prevent a problem, rather than fix it later. Mrs. Brown-Mayfield looks to find the cause of problems and dealing with it, rather than prescribing medications to “put a band-aid” on the symptoms.
